To the Tampa crowd - I'm in the area through the weekend and would appreciate local knowledge on Gasparilla do's & don'ts. I attended the parade several years ago and enjoyed the day. I'd like to see the boat parade and invasion ceremony and anything else the locals recommend. Anyone attending?

Thanks.

And by the way - what's up with this 50 - 60 degree crap?

I recommend not putting your boat in that mess it's an accident waiting to happen.

Had frost on my windshield this morning. One of my foremen that lives north and inland of me said it was 19 degrees at his house. Fortunately living on the water-cold as it is now- still helps to moderate things.

Not to worry though. Warmed up nicely into the upper 60's today, and we'll be mid 70's for the weekend. Weather will be great for ya.

Like Guavaween in Ybor City, I've always avoided Gasparilla; a little too crazytime for me- especially on the water- you can walk from boat to boat; and too many of the captains are stone drunk. You didn't mention if it's a family trip- I can tell you based on stories from friends who attend- do NOT take your kids..

Have fun and welcome to Tampa!
