Gas Prices At August Record!

But doesn't Indiana exempt gas from sales tax?

Try $5.39, on the water in Seattle, August 24; the last time I filled up, 21 gallons was $113.73.

You guys are too mellow, you should be revolting in the streets in Australia.

This may be a silly question.... Does Australia give millions of tax dollars to the oil companies in subsidies?, to a group of companies that take in billions in profits, yet still get tax breaks? This isn't meant to start anything...it's just a question.

Not so much the oil companies for producing, but for exploration I think. I wouldn't personally term a tax rebate as a subsidy tho, but it could certainly be argued that way.

I'll have a look around and see if I can post something more concrete.

We certainly give mining and rural type producers a rebate on diesel fuel taxes.

The U.S. Gives big oil a lot of funding, I guess that's what give us a little whining room.

Market distortions FTL

I have been paying over $5 all summer long. It is non ethanol gas. My closest marina locks in at a certain amount for the summer. If they sell out the price can climb or drop in the fall.

Latest news in Australia, is Caltex are closing down the Sydney Refinery. The Asian refinery's are over capacity and it is cheaper to import the finished product. Mind you, this will not lead to cheaper prices at the bowser.

Might not lead to cheaper, but very likely to slow the rise of prices. Of course that isn't nearly as exciting as getting 20c/l off at the pump ;-)

Now wait just a dang minute! Filled up yesterday 87 octane $3.539 today to fill up same gas station 87octane 3.999.... WTF! Some times you just want to hit some one... what is causing the price increase now? Did a bird land on an oil tanker depositing a fecal present causing the ship to be quarantined for fears of avian flu? Or wait maybe it was Pluto aligned with the big dipper causing a fluctuation in neutrinos that caused a shift in subatomic particles slowing the flow of oil trough a pipeline because of increased viscosity?

I blame the dinosaurs... they should have left more organic material for us the selfish Ba$tards! :smt013

As of today...

Reg. $4.07.9

Mid. $4.27.9

Prem. $4.47.9 <<<<< thats the scooter gas. :wow:

Diesel. $4.29.9

I feel your pain guys, but in the UK, we pay £1.39 per litre. That equates to £1.39x 1.56 = $2.1684 per litre. 3.785 litres to a US gallon so we are paying $8.21 per gallon at the pump and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better.
