I have accepted on occasion, but it is not EXPECTED. Like others have said, if I have invited them, I do not expect them to pay.

If you've read all 62 posts here and hunger for more, read all about it in last August's treatment of the subject...

Ugh, you guys and your "archives". How many new members we have since last august? Maybe some of us are interested in what some of the newer members think? If this is too time consuming then skip it, but lay off the "this was done before" junk. I want to see the new guys boat pics, the trucks they trailer their boats with, and what they drive. I enjoy the new members enthusiasm about their hobby and this is such a great site to show it off!:smt038:thumbsup:

I am not ready for the rocking chair and the war stories yet!

Amen

Someone mentioned that this came up before so I found it and posted it. Simple as that. Many people who participated in this discussion last summer may choose to NOT post again so the link directs folks to some other point-of-views. Also, the initiation of that thread was based on an story that others may find interesting. I said nothing disparaging and am well aware that there are probably more that 1000 new members since August of 2008 who would never find it.

I agree and you make a good point. I was more referring to this and a few threads on pics and general questions where I typically see a reference to "this has been done before"" or "check here before you post" and I think newbies might find this a little discouraging. I just dont want to see some of the new enthusiasm muted!

But I respect your point. Thank you.

No Prob! I don't like to see people get barked at for "not searching." Way I see it is, if one of the elder statesmen around here knows the topic was covered in the past, help a brother out, find the thread, and post the link.

Even last year - when gas was high - I never expected it. I enjoy going out on my boat and find the peace I get while out there well worth it. What I like is when I have the friends who bring a bottle of Rum or something like that if we do a long cruise. To me - that is a nicer geasture than money for the gas...

Yes, I "accepted" once on an all guys trip to Seattle for a Hawks game. They each donated the price that a ferry ticket would have cost, I covered the moorage expense and they supplied the game ticket. They stuffed the cash in my shorts, what could I do?

I think I spent it all on one round of beers at the game anyway. $9 for a domestic......ouch.:wow:

And as far as the charter debate, I don't sweat these things, I just don't supply folks booze and then send them on their merry drive home.:smt101

I agree 100 percent, if someone knows the subject has been covered and can find the earlier post and link it to the new one then I would say “Thank you”.

Yeah! We should do every thread over each month so the newbies can pipe in their two cents.

Yes :smt038 gas is a big cost of boating so I feel it should be shared.
