Hello fellow boaters,

Here are the pictures of oil spillage that happens every time I take the boat out and bring it to a stop. It only last for a couple of minute after I shut the boat off.
I checked the blige and there is no trace of oil or gas at anytime.
There is also no trace of oil in the water when I come back to her slip on the weekend.
It has been like this since I got the boat in 2008.

What could it be? Could it be coming thru the exhaust?

I can't see anything in the pictures, but I'll trust that what you are trying to show is the "rainbow effect"? It's not just happening when you come to a stop - it's happening whenever the engine is running. You just don't see it, for obvious reasons, when the boat is moving. It's a natural process of combustion - minute particles that are not burned make their way out through the exhaust. You would see less of this if you had catalytic converters.

I had this issues when I bought my boat and it was a leak in the top cap of the Bennett Trim Tab ram.

I would narrow in on this being the culprit too. And *if* you had sterndrives, I'd also suggest the trim cylinders having a leak somewhere.

Is it always on one side of the boat or the other?

Have someone stand back looking at the trim tabs and activate them in the down position which will put them under pressure. This was the only way I found my leak. I contacted BTT and they sent me the parts for free and were a lot of help.

Could you be having fuel cooling issues? Maybe the boat is running too rich? There are a few threads on cool fuel issues.

Thank you very much for your help.

i will try to work the trim tabs at the dock and see if that could be it.
I have noticed the port side tab wont bring the bow as high as the starboard side, I believe a leak could explain that.

Between that and the sheen on the water is what made me look at the trimtabs. Hope it helps!
