Gas leak 8.1 Mercruiser

I found a potential problem that could have been a disaster. After discovering that my gas vapor alarms work I found a gas leak on my port engine. Apparently the gas line that runs under the engine to the fuel injectors was rubbing against the pulley on the engine which caused a cut in the line. I was curious if this has happened to anyone else or maybe it's a design problem with the 8.1. I checked the starboard side and the line is about eight inches from the pulley.

I have not had this issue, but glad you found out without any adverse issues!

That is a good reason why you should be regularly (maybe as frequently as each time you get ready to leave the dock) inspecting everything in the bilges looking for abnormalities. Both with and without the engines running.
