I have a 2002 340 Sundancer, the starboard gas gauge is showing no gas when it is full. The sender is located under a small port above the sender in the back cabin in a cabinet. I can not see how it is possible to reach the sender to work on it.

Does any one have any experience with this situation or suggestions.

Thanks,

David

It could be the gauge itself. It seems like you have two gas gauges. If you have two gauges, switch the two gas gauges and see if it is the gauge. That's an easy fix if it turns out to be just the gauge.
Then move on to the wiring and sender if you have to.

Paladin,

thanks for the response, is it more common for the gauge to fail than the sender?

most of the time its the sending unit I'm waiting for my new staboard unit now good luck it's a very commOn problem good luck

David 340: On my boat, the gauges above, on the flybridge, were pretty fried from being outdoors. An inside gauge should not be in bad shape. I had to replace a few of the (outdoor) gauges because they'd "sort of" work, but not really be accurate or seem to hang up at weird places on the dial. But the new ones work great.
I always think it's worth trying a couple things to see what's the culprit.

Thank you for all your help.

The places the Sea Ray designers use for working on the boat are baffling to me. I have found on my boat that the clean out for the a/c basket is extremely hard to get to and an other example is the zinc for the generator is under the generator.

The access panel for the starboard sender is in a small cabinet that you can't but your head in to see what your doing. Crazy.

Thanks again,

David
