I was down at my Marina in Staten Island Yesterday and was chatting with some fellow boaters and one of them brought up the point of gas docks not being operational. Anyone have input or solid info .

Is that just in S.I.?? I know my guy is open and fully operational- Diesel and 89 & 93 octain gas...Not to mention live & frozen baits and tackle. They reopened about 2 weeks ago after a full renovation after Sandy. It's the Bay Park Fishing Station in Oceanside, NY...
I havent heard anything about other gas docks not opening...?? I did hear that some of the stations needed to update their fuel tanks or replace them due to being filled with salt water, but thats all...
Anyone else with an update regarding the post by BigJoeB?

Im in freeport ny and I was worried about the same thing. All the gas docks by me were wiped out. A few of them said they werent going to be open in time for memorial weekend. Thats when I called up a fuel delivery company and made an account with them. I was out on the water yesturday and one fuel dock didn't even start fixing yet. No pump out either.....

Ant have you been out on the water yet? If so have you noticed any changes in the channels or water depth? So far the routes I took yesturday were the same as last year just about a foot shallower. I went from freeport canal to about 300yards east of the mouth of jones inlet. I noticed short wave break that looked like low low water so I stoped and turned around. Dont want to be the first to find the shallow spots

Whats left on Staten Island as far as dock space is being rebuilt but word has it no gas docks that were there are going to be ready. My marina dont have fuel docking so I would shoot across to NJ to fuel up but I hear tey lost it all to but nothing first hand. Anyone ?

No, Xplicit, havent been on the water as my boat was taken by Sandy.....I took the duck boat out a little bit, but with that, I just troll around the marsh areas, not really going out far with that!
I have heard some things regarding possible changes at the Great South Bay, Jones Inlet channels about water depths, sand barges ect...I have a friend who sails out of Freeport and he's mentioned it a few times. I havent heard anything at this time regarding Debbs, where I usually went out from, but who knows? I would think that the storm moved some things around there as well...
I think someone should be out there to check our waterways to make sure things are okay. As for the time being, I think the best bet would to be to be very prudent and careful, keep an eye on the depth sounder/Lawrence and be carefull. Dont know what else to think....

Sorry to hear about your boat. Sandy just bought me a new one after taking mine. My new one is already in the water and ready to cruise. Its really hard not to go out onthe few decent days we have been having. I opened an accoun wih a local fuel delivery company so that solves fuel problems but I refuse to call them to come fill my boat so I don go out. Very depressing. Im actually on my way out to th boat to try and straighten out some electical issues and maybe a quick cruise out ;-) hopefully the markers com out soon and the bottom surve boats get there asses in gear and go to work ..

jon,
What the name of the fuel delivery company and does the marina have any issues with filling up with Gas from a truck?
Im trying to get the marina to drop my boat off of the rack so i can start cleaning and waxing.
He's telling me 2 weeks since he has no floor space. the lot is still filled with Sandy boats awaiting removal..........
He wants to drop it and launch in the same day;

Thanks Xplicit...Im sure Im not the only one in that position...I see from your reply post that it happened to you too. Nice you got a new one already, Im looking at the moment, havent see anything I like so far- unless I want to spend 100 grand! I'm keeping my eyes open!
I also hope the markers get out there soon and bottom survey as well....

I've used Rising Tide too. No problems at all.
