Dumb question, but....Yesterday I noticed the O-Ring on my gas cap is getting hard and cracked. Are these standard or brand/model specific? Where is the best place to buy one?

My boat is slipped 15 miles away and I don't want to remove it to bring it someplace. I am hoping to just pick one up and swap it next weekend.

Thanks!

look at the area where your cap screws onto the boat and I'm sure you willee the company name there. Just noticed this today while I was fueling the 280DA. Hopefully you can go to their web site and order one.

When I removed my gas cap the first time this spring, the o-ring split and fell off. I just took it to the local hardware store and found one that matched in their plumbing department. Cost: $0.42. Unfortunately I can't tell you the size.

Yeah, thats an option, but like I said, I am quite aways away and do not want it to sit out in the rain while I have it out. Supposed to be a dry week htough, so maybe I can get down there and get it during the week. Thanks!

You can go to Harbor Freight and get a complete kit with (approx. 382 quantity) different size o - rings for a couple of dollars. That way you will have spares for anything with an o - ring on it and not need to guess what the size it is. A hardware store is a great option but you will need to know the size or take the cap with you.

also auto zone for $18.00 407 rings fit gas caps and water and waste plenty of extras too ,these go bad every couple of years anyway.

UPDATE:

I just called Perko 305-621-7525 and they are sending me one in the mail for free!

I know I could have went to the local hardware store, but this is easier and I know I will be getting the proper size and most importantly, the right material. I am guessing the std ones you buy at the hardware store are Buna-N and the ones used for gas contact are Viton.
