With the ethanol situation what should i use. Just picked up 2001 340 dancer with twin 454 magnum 7.4 liter horizon engines 380hp.

Welocome aboard!

Please always try to do a search for things you're looking for. There is a lot of info on this forum and many times what you're looking for has already been talked about. By the way, DO NOT ask about using portable gennies!

Here's a search for "ethanol": http://clubsearay.com/search.php?searchid=130288

But, to answer your question... yes, always use an additive. Startron, Marine Stabil are probably the two main ones. I think CRC makes one, too. Just follow the directions on the bottle.

Hmmm. It should of linked to a bunch of threads about ethanol?

EDIT: I just checked the link. It does go to ethanol stuff. Maybe you're the one being funny, Marshall!!!

Starbrite is the manufacturer of Startron. I prefer that one, too - partly because they were the first manufacturer to figure out an ethanol-fighting additive, partly because it's cheaper (per gallon of gas) than the Stabil.

Star Tron Gasoline Additive

This came highly recomended to me and has performed so well I use it also in all my lawn and power equipment.

My links work.

Alright, alright, Mr. Funny pants. :smt001

Well, now my computer is giving me the run around, too! Must be gremlins.

Anyways, to the OP: Click "advanced search", then pick "search titles only" from the drop down menu and type "ethanol" as the keyword.

See what I get for trying to be helpful! :smt101

I use Stabil Marine formula. It is available at WalMart for <$10 for 80 gallons of treatment. I add to that Marvel Mystery Oil also at WalMart for <$4 for 80 gallons of treatment.

I double dose the concoction for winterizing.

It has served me well for years.

Considering we are talking $400 per side for fuel, I figure WTF is another $11 per side.

FWIW, I also use this formula in my yard equipment. My lawn mower, weed whacker, blower, etc..... all fire up with no problem since using this.

Works for me.

You could see if your local marinas have Valvtect preblended in their fuel. Mine do, but I add Marine StaBil, as well.

If I buy fuel at my marina, it does not have ethanol and it has a stabilizer added. Check where you buy fuel and see what they do!

My marina fuel does have ValvTect. I have heard goods and bads about the product. My gennie was constantly searching for the proper RPM even with ValvTect fuel. (Bad plugs?) I put in the MMO and Stabil and in about 30 minutes the problem disappeared. Knock on wood!

You know, that stabil marine and marvel mystery oil may not be a bad thing, used it for years in our lite sport planes instead of 100ll,never had any problems. may try it in the next boat fueling ...Rip

MMO; I run it in my lawn mower, boat, 4 wheeler, chain saw and especially the 28 Ford Model A. I used to top off the fuel tank prior to summer or winter lay up. Now I drain everything and when the season starts, I fill them up with high test, a splash of MMO and have experienced no problems. MMO; my friends call it snake oil but I will continue to use it.

MMO has been around a long time, years ago we would put it in the crank case ,1 bottle after we changed the oil they called it upper cylinder lub, kept the valve guides and the valve cams lubed...Rip

If you can find a marina that sells marine fuel(no alcohol) that would be best. My marina sells Valvtech fuel.
