Hello everyone. I’m a newbie to this site, but not boats. I’m looking to upgrade an old Garmin 180 on a 1985 300 dancer. After looking at the new Garmins, I have been told by all sales technicians I will need to install a brand new transducer because my current transducer is separate from the unit I have. What will I need to complete an installation on this boat? I hate the idea of cutting another hole through the bottom of the boat. Thanks!

I have a 1984 aft cabin 36 ft. I cannot keep my water system switch to stay on.It shows I am full in my tanks but when I flip the switch it will stay on about 10 or 15 seconds and then turn off. As far as I know there isn't a fuse box. All the rest of my electric switches seem to work. Anyone enlighten me? My Email is janet48don34@cox.net Thanks, Don

Question, if you have a gpsmap180 I don't think that will do sonar, it's GPS only. However, if you end up needing a new transducer for a new unit just use a "shoot through the hull" model, no cutting necessary. BTW, there is a guy selling a used Garmin 74sv that is really nice and you can epoxy the transducer that comes with it to your hull no problem.
