Garmin releases the new line of electronics the 9000 series

When I upgraded my electronics 4 years ago I had to make modifications to fit the 8612 in the largest space on my dash so a 19” display is not in my future. My second display is an older 92X series that I was thinking of replacing this winter to a 943 but I’m wondering if I should wait at this point.

If you do wait, you will also need to update to BlueNet for interfacing, it may not just be a cable. I finished upgrading this past spring to the x43 series. I was also just looking into the 943 for a touch screen in the salon to turn lights on/off. Now the TD-50 will be perfect, except for the fore mentioned networking issues possibly.

Well with Garmin's release of this new series, they discontinued the GHC 20 in leu of the newer GHC 50, with is much like the TD-50, not sure I can even fit the 50 where it needs to be ...

Seems like they are on the bigger is better band wagon. ...

My main reason for upgrading the 92X screen on the left is for a screen that has less glare and is easier to see from the helm seat. I think I remember that the X43 series used the same screen as the 8600 which is easy to see at an angle.

I have the 1243's and they are easy to see at an angle. Although I am not sure they are the same as the 86xx series. The 1243 is not the same resolution as the 8612, but they are good with glare and direct sun light.

I think you’re right about the resolution but it is probably the anti-glare and ability to see from an angle that I’m after. I find myself having to lean toward the screen to see it.

Thanks!

Yes the type of gorilla glass used is the exact same.

Especially wearing the Maui Jims can't see the screens hardly at all.
