Give me your throught's Jim. There is a bunch out there and it's a little hard to decifer what to buy.

I've got a buddy that want's one and I've been thinking about it too.

Price is important too. A talking unit would be nice for land.
 
Hi Bobby, the only unit that really works well for Land and Sea is the Garmin 478. It is the same as the Garmin 376 which people have been adapting for land and sea use for the last couple of years. The 498 is nice because it includes everything you need for land and sea use including the mounts, pre-loaded cartography, speaker and more. The only thing it doesn't have that aut-only units have is a touch screen. For land an sea use it is the best value and the best way to go.
