Looking to add a basic chartplotter w/internal GPS to my boat. The 9" models will fit with the included mounting bracket. My question is which Echomap model to get? The 93sv or the 94sv? Not concerned with the processing or transducer options but rather I want to make sure the included charts will be correct for the Chesapeake Bay, especially the Upper Chesapeake Bay. One model has inland waters and the other has lakes. I'm assuming the 94sv with G3 and coastal waters chart is the right one?

Maybe this won’t mean much, however I have been impressed with my 73sv, for a smaller, universal type of chart plotter/depth finder. I do get updates on the charts. It’s a fine little unit, and great for fishing. Active Captain and Quick Draw Contours are what I use mine for. I don’t think you could go wrong with either, unless one doesn’t include charts and the features I described. Also, remember the transducer. With some units they’re separate. It includes NMEA so you can tie it into Mercruiser for engine info as well as Fusion for entertainment. I’m currently doing this in my little Sea Ray.

The 74/94SV would be the one you want. I have the 74SV and it does all the bays, rivers and harbors that would be in the upper end of the bay.

Below is a crappy screen shot of Baltimore harbor so you can see the 74/94 covers it. (I have a test stand for my Garmin on my desk)
