Garmin BlueChart vs Garmin Active Captain, what happen

Just curious doing a little research and there saying Garmin BlueChart is no more?? But not i gotta use the app Garmin Active Captain... Do i have to upgrade my 942 and my 741 on the boat too? Also i did pay for some maps so will they transfer over as well....Also will Navionics on my laptop work now since it looks like there together....

Garmin folded the BlueChart functionality into the Garmin Active Captain app, along with what used to be the Active Captain and Garmin Helm apps. I don't think BlueChart-purchased charts conveyed over but, the charts you own for your plotters can provide the licensing to use on the new Active Captain. I think you have to also go through Garmin Express to make that work. The new app will also do chart plotter software updates if the plotters are wifi-enabled. If they are then you do probably need to do one last update the old way to enable Active Captain functionality.
