Garmin Auto pilot

I have a 7612SXV with the GHP Reactor Autopilot. Very happy with the system and all of it's features. You will have to run a third hydraulic line to the Smart Pump from the helm. Also, the Course Correction Unit is best located amidships and low. My 400DA has a locker in the solon below the floor between the stringers where the CCU was located which was best according to the Garmin installation manual and made the calibration a whiz. I needed the extension cable for between the pump and CCU so plan on ordering one. Also the instructions recommend valves between the hydraulic lines and pump so the pump can be removed; forget all that, you don't need the complexity. The setup and calibration was effortless. To make best use of the autopilot get the Bluechart Vision package. Lastly, the Shadow Drive sensitivity will need to be set to a higher value so it will disengage the autopilot when you manually turn the wheel; after calibration I found it was set too low and turning the wheel would not easily disengage the system.
Hope this helps - it's a great system!

Thanks ttmott just what I was looking for. I do already have the vision HD charts and love he auto guidance. I'm not planning on doing the install myself, but the installer who does all the different companies products, could not have been more complementary of the Garmin.

Three years ago I installed all new electronics and went with a complete Garmin package, a decision I have never regretted. I have a 7212 and a ghp 20 autopilot. I love it. It was easy to install and easy to use. Love the capabilities the Blue Chart chip adds. If you do have someone else do the install, make sure he is an authorized Garmin dealer. This will give you a better warranty. If a dealer installs it and you have a problem, they will pay for a tech to come to your boat. Without dealer install you have to bring unit to them for repair. Since my install would have been very expensive as I bought the 7212, the ghp 20, a new radar, and fish finder at the same time, I made a deal with my local Garmin guy. I did all the install and ran all the wiring but did not plug it in. He came to boat and plugged everything in, set up and calibrated everything and wrote it as dealer install and it only cost me 1 hour labor. I was happy with deal, but have not had any problems. Enjoy it.
