I really don't want to start a revolt. Has anyone looked at the Galeon 445HTS? This boat catches my eye. I've looked it over and like what I see. Don't want to start a fight. Just curious.

Rusty, you can come see me anytime. I really don't like the new 470. The 12 I have is real sleek looking and I love it. Been one of the best boats I've ever had. Rusty the next time I'm down we need to go for a ride.

1. Who are you going to talk to in Gdansk if you need help?

2. These are not really production boats since ".................50 per cent to 60 per cent of the parts are customised for each boat.”* What are you going to do if you need a replacement when you have damaged one of those 60% 'customised' parts?

3. The dealer who sells these boats in the US is not in the customer service/customer satisfaction business........they are in the dead presidents business.

4. Has anyone in Gdansk offered to come see you to help you with this decision?

I said I didn't want to start a war, remember all I asked if anyone else has looked at the boat. All the major components are American Companies such as GE or they are the same stuff that's on my Sea Ray. I looked the boat over and the quality of construction is awesome. I did not say I was purchasing one..... I said I liked the way it looks and I thought it was a nice boat. The dealer M/M Cawtaba Is. (collector of dead president, your choice of words not mine) and salesperson Craig Graham, is who I bought my 12 Sea Rays from and they have been great and NO ONE is better than Rusty @ Sea Ray. No, no one from Gdansk has offered to help me with purchasing one of their products. Don't get me wrong.....I love Sea Ray boats... I just don't like the new 470. I just need to like something before I buy it. Anyway you really can't piss me off today.....Trump won.

bb,

I didn't take FWebster's comments as hostile. He raised some very good questions to ask. If nothing else, I think he (and Rusty) make a great case for Sea Ray that goes beyond the outstanding vessels Sea Ray builds. I wish I was in a position to take that 470 off your hands...

I think his comments about M/M were kinda hostile. Honestly no one from Sea Ray has ever come to see me to help me with my decisions and that was 12 boats. Rusty has been awesome......I wish Ford had a Rusty. If I don't buy a Sea Ray I know that Galeon or whoever won't have a Rusty. I only have 110 Hrs. on my boat.......I just want a new boat and don't like the new 470.

There was a real buzz about Galeon at FLIBS - MM was really pushing them.....when I was checking out the new sea rays and commenting to a MM salesman, he flat out told me to go look at the Galeons instead as the were a "nicer" design and a "better" value.....my slip neighbor at Miami Beach Marina (Formula 37pc) were very interested in the Galeon 50 Fly and went on and on about how great it was (I guess they spent a lot of time on it)...

I'm sure that's not what Sea Ray wants M/M to say. M/M should use the line for conquest sale not pirate Sea Ray customers away. I heard that they were well received at FLIBS. They use the European way of measuring the boat so the 445 is actually longer than the 470 DA.

Anyway you really can't piss me off today.....Trump won.

+1..... Except for the winters ..I should be happy for four years

As far as the Galeon 445HST .. I am not feeling it with the hard top flair ...its just a bit too busy up there and the upper side windows shape doesnt seem to flow. I am also not sure of the aft sun pad/dinghy storage. I think it takes away from usable living space that you want for the other 80% of the time your not using it.

I wonder how that weed eater motor works? What would you use for a prop? The dinghy space is not really big enough for a dinghy. Great space for water softener and fenders. It's above the motors so it really doesn't eat into the living areas. My draw backs are: single screen nav, suck stereo system, no option for colored hull, (that blue is not me) too much teak, isotherm refridge, no separate freezer in galley, no tv in sun room, and what or how would you canvas the back?

Does the idea of sending $1,000,000 overseas in one fell swoop give anyone else pause? There's a new European "value" boat on my pier - let's call it the Ikea 49. He could've only bought about half of a similar-sized SeaRay for what he paid for it, but every time I walk by I shake my head. A used SR or Tiara seems smarter to me in so many ways...

I have never been on, nor seen in person, a Galeon so I can't comment one way or the other on your initial question... but... why do I keep thinking of Flash Gordon when I look at the picture that Dan posted? :smt001

Bradley...can I invite you to come down and drive them all in a couple weeks.....460/510/550NEW MODEL/590/650.

I do not criticize any other builders products as I am too focused on making mine better.....but the Stars and Stripes fly proudly over my dock. For those who do not know this owner, there is no bigger patriot than he. Mr. Black sells American made automobiles and I am betting my bottom dollar that Old Glory shadows his lot everyday.

call me if I can make the dif sir.

Rusty

Very good and appropriate.

It seems as though my calling a spade a spade might have offended the OP, so I'll leave future comments to Dennis.

Your calling a spade a spade resonated very well with me. I have advised folks to steer clear of MM Wrightsville. Better smaller dealerships and deals to be had elsewhere.

As for the Galeon...First thing I thought when I looked over the roof was.....Quick Robin....To the Bat Boat!

Again, I haven't bought anything yet. I just got the bug. I love the looks of the 540. Just way more boat than I need or want. It's just my wife and myself and I can always get a dock at Put In Bay with my 470. They, the dock masters at PIB, keep reminding not to get anything ant bigger. I get that it's made in Poland. There is a lot of non US parts in my current boat. I don't need a boat...... just want one and won't buy something I don't like. Again I have not made a decision.

I'had the opportunity to be on a lot of boats worldwide in my adult life. Frankly I don't think the American production builders are listenening...... well maybe thay are listening to the 1%. The rest of us will go where the deals and the quality is.

This is one of my issues with SR. The boats are nice, but way over priced.
I'll use Prestige as an example, they run about 25% less than a SR. Some of the savings is less expensive finishing materials, but I have to be honest the build quality on my SR is questionable at times.

Most builders use the same handful of engines, generators, etc.
