While this is not the model you refered too. We are satisfied by the Fusion Brand. We put the RA200 w/ thier Ipod Dock in the center console our 11 foot ocean runner rib. By no means are My kids delicate with this boat. We added two 6" polyplaner speakers in the anchor locker facing the passengers. This equipment is rock solid. Water proof. and the visibility of the screen in direct sun is clearly usable at 25 knots. It has made this old Dad a Ipod Guy now!

I have the AV 700 and love it. Sounds great even without an amp. Highly recommended if you can find one.

Three of us installed the Fusion units, 2-600 and 1 - 700, no issues, love them. Bob

Thank you all. Anybody know if you can hook up a multi disc CD player to the MS IP700. I have looked at the Fusion web site and have not found if any are compadible.

It is cheaper to get an old iPod and put the CD's on that. :)

Anyway - one thing to remember is the amplifier in Fusion is NOT comparable in any way to what is in sea ray's standard Clarion devices. Fusion is great for integration etc - but lacks a bit in the raw power part. Their claimed output power is not comparable to Clarions "true" output power. But I'm not a fan of either Clarion, Fusion or Sony. I have had my Clarion turned on just about twice I think. Wake me up when they come out with something that will control my TV's as well with streaming HD via HDMI, and internet streaming.

Thank you Kaz911,

I was going to use JL Audio mhd750/1, mhd600/4 amps and the fusion head unit for the JL 770 and sub that I have just installed in the cockpit. And use the stock Clarion amp and head unit only in the cabin.

i have a Fusion 500 with integrated iPod dock feeding directly into the amp from the former Clarion with absolutely no problems. Since then the guys on my dock have installed more than 6 units into their boats. Nearly every different model and configuration with a hitch. Great stuff.

So I can just replace the clarion head unit with the Fusion and use the Stock amps correct? I'm looking to replace the Clarion with the Fusion myself. I believe I can buy movies from iTunes on my iPhone, dock it in the fusion and the movie will play and sound come through the system .

It is fine if you use external amps - then you at least have that raw power. :) I wish Fusion would publish some " verified " sound quality and power data and not just the usual " boom box " specifications as you see on cheap Chinese products.

Off topic a bit, concerning using the Clarion amp. My amp only feeds the cockpit speakers, not the cabin speakers. I am replacing the Clarion head unit in the Spring with another brand radio, and would love to be able to use the Clarion amp. Is it a 4-channel amp? If so, I would have separate control of cabin/cockpit balance. If only 2-channel, I would have to use it as is, or use the amp for all speakers, and not have control of cabin/cockpit balance.

I can't get any sound or maybe a faint sound out of the clarion cockpit speakers, but the cabin ones are fine. The fade and balance only seems to control the inside speakers. Any idea why the outside speakers wouldn't be working. I just boat the boat a few months ago, so I don't have any history on when or if they worked last.

We're going off the Fusion topic here, but.... it sounds like it's a problem with the Clarion amp. If yours is set up like mine, the amp only powers the cockpit speakers, so the problem may be in your amp. Check for a blown fuse. In my boat it's located behind the mirror in the mid berth. Really easy to get to. You can probably bypass the amp altogether, if you don't like music loud in the cockpit. I can't believe that every speaker in your cockpit is blown, so it's more likely the amp.

Back on topic: Concerning Fusion radios in general, when searching for radio brands to install in my boat, the owner of my marina mentioned that Fusion radios have weak radio sensitivity, and to stay away from them if I need to pull in distant radio stations. This is hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt.

I have the Fusion MP-700 and it is fantastic. It allows me not only to play the music that is on my iPhone, but also to stream Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, etc. Basically, this allows me to access any song I want with just a few clicks. I hooked it up to a JL Audio amp, 10" JL Audio Sub, and four new JL Audio cockpit speakers (I left the cabin speakers alone). I also ran a wired Fusion remote to the helm--this thing is sweet. It shows song display, etc. and allows me full control of sound settings and song selection from the helm. It all sounds great!

Thank you.

I just remembered there is a separate switch for the cockpit amp. You won't get any output unless that switch is turned on. The switch is on the cabin power panel, although it's possible it can be at the helm on your boat. Did you turn that switch on???

A dockmate runs a business installing high-end electronics in the big yachts. He uses Fusions exclusively for audio whenever possible because the flexibility they represent as well as the quality. I take a little pride in introducing him to the brand when I installed mine.

I've been following this thread, and I too was looking to replace my Clarion head unit with the Fusion is700 if I buy a movie on iTunes I can play it through the tv in the salon and the sound comes through the system. I can also control (Fade) three other locations from the wife's iPhone. And install an optional remote to the bridge and do all of the above, it seems like a really cool head unit I haven't heard anything bad at all.

Go to TheHullTruth website - there are quite a few threads with issues. I'm not saying it is bad - it is just not in the same quality league as Clarion. But you do get a lot of features for the money.
