When an iPhone is connected to the Fusion head unit via Bluetooth do the side buttons control volume? Cannot get mine to do that. I can control with the Fusion app, but that is not as convenient. Everything else seems to work.

There is a setting deep in the settings of the app and you can set that to control the volume. I have Android but it does work. The issues is the stupid app constantly changes the active zone and defaults to all zones. Very big PITA. I have sent many emails over the past two years about this but they won't fix it, it seems. Don't understand why either.

If you are talking about the side buttons on your phone, that is a setting within the phone itself as to what they control and when, are all programable and may not be conducive to your objective depending upon your,.. sorry I can not help any further with icrap.

I believe the phone is configured properly as it does exactly what I want on my other Bluetooth devices, just not on the Fusion.

I was playing with my setup using Airplay. The side buttons were controlling the cockpit volume but not the salon which puzzled me. Found the setting on the Fusion App: Settings (Gear Icon)...Phone Volume Synch. Then, there are check boxes for each defined zone. My salon zone was unchecked, changing that let me control both zones with the side buttons.

I found another interesting feature I wasn't aware of that was implemented in update 5.40, the update before last.
The feature is called "NMEA 2000 Speed vs. Volume". It obviously requires a NMEA 2000 network with one or more speed sources available. When enabled, as speed of the boat increases, the volume will begin to go up and down along with speed. "Speed" can be either RPM, SOG, STW or Wind Speed if equipped with a wind sensor. Minimum and maximum volumes can be selected. When enabled, the volume indicators will not change on the display.
I've enabled the feature and will see how it works. If it works well, I'll like it a lot as I am constantly fiddling with volume to keep up with loud diesels.

Ok, I'll try.
Settings,
Volume,
Do you see the Fusion (xxxx) in the volume settings?

Don't try to back door it.

Ate you talking about iOS settings or settings in the fusion app. My friend has similar issue but in the fusion app he cannot uncheck the sync all box.

Phone settings, volume settings and all the way at the bottom is "use volume keys for media" that you can turn on or off.

In Android 12 it seems to have disappeared. Some app's allow it to be changed by the pop up of the volume on the right side of the phone, but is not in settings at this point. I have the Pixel 6 Pro and lost that ability when I switched earlier this year when Google changed it at the 1st of the year. I believe they call it "Chrome Cast" for some reason and that is totally disabled.

My S21+ just ask for permission to update this morning which I did.
This control feature is still listed in my main settings and when I click on the menu at the top of the volume pop up you mentioned also.
Edit: I just checked and the update is version 12 also.

My friend said that didn’t work for him. He has that setting turned off but the volume buttons still control his fusion. Also the fusion app settings won’t allow him to turn off the sync all option either.

He has a Bluetooth blood sugar monitor and when it alarms, it temporarily turns the phone volume to max and plays an alert. You can imagine the consequences when he’s playing the stereo

Where is that setting? In the ap or on the fusion?

That sounds game changing!

Bummer, not for me. I had it last year on my Samsung, but not on the Pixel 6 Pro. Can't imagine that it is only Google phones, but looks like it might be. That's crazy.

It's on the Fusion head. Settings...Zone (scroll down)...Speed vs. Volume. Once it's enabled, one can set speed source (GPS seems the best choice), min/max speed for it to adjust, and % of volume change. I upped it from the default 25% to 40%.
Did an eight hour trip today and it performed great. In operation, the regular volume controls establish a "Base" then then the function will adjust from there. But, I didn't have to touch the volume controls after setting the initial volume that worked best at full speed.

What fusion unit do you have?
