Afternoon all,
Though I hate to be asking a question to something i felt should have been easy to resolve I am a week in and still stumped. Removed Clarion M1000R Head unit from the cabin, everything powered and was working but it was time for the antiquated system to go, upon installing the new "BOSS" head unit (had it for a back up on our previous Yamaha 242 Limited S) I get no power to the head unit. I've pulled both inline fuses, no issues. Pulled the amp fuses out, checked, reinstalled along with a fuse on the head unit. I have found no other fuses in the boat (dash/Bilge etc....) what am I missing? I would hate to think the new head unit was bad, the the box had never even been opened, but i'm almost at that point.

This install was only temporary due to a number of the original items in this boat needing to be replaced / updated. I will literally go as far as to say the original speakers, are still in it! Some crumbling and cracked but they are still there.

Taking a shot here - you should have both a 12V constant lead on the head unit and also a switched lead. Are both verified connected? Have you checked the switched lead to ensure it switches with the breaker on your main breaker panel (which is probably "entertainment system"?

Yes Sir I did. Power for both Accy and Constant were working prior to the install, previous unit fired right up. Turned off the circuit breaker, unwired everything from the old unit and wired up the new one. Circuit breaker back on, hit power and nothing. Was hoping there may be a fuse I'm missing somewhere but chances are, the new unit could be bad.

Save yourself a lot of trouble - throw a volt meter on those power and ground wires before chasing anything else down. Test your actual positive and ground, not something else. If the voltage is good, you know you have a problem with the head unit or how you have it wired. If the voltage isn't good, start working your way back upstream to see where the issue is.
