End of season and decisions to make!
I had new manifolds and risers put on and they have about 35 hrs on them. My plan is to flush motors out with barnacle buster and then put a full closed coolant systems or just add a automatic superflush system AC-2 is it worth doing any one of these
Or should I just flush out motors every winter with BB. How much longer can the motors last or benefit from the mods
The Motors have 325 on them 5.0 mpi

I had the closed cooling system added to my 320DA. The kit requires the replacement of your risers, manifolds, and elbows.. The manifolds and risers you just had installed would have to be replaced again to accommodate the kit, so that would be money down the drain in your case. I personally would wait until the next time you need manifolds and risers to add the closed coolant system and for now just have a good flush system.

I was told by the seller I just needed to change the gasket on the riser. Thanks for the heads up.
What system did you go with? Any regrets, problems on install

I went with the Mercruiser factory system. Took 2 days for a good shop here to install. No problems, no regrets, nice upgrade for the engines. Had all the hoses, plugs, and belts changed while there were in the engine compartment.

I think your original assumption was correct. You can use your existing manafolds and risers. However, you would use a different gasket for closed cooling which would allow antifreeze to flow through the water jackets of the manafolds and risers, but not the elbows.

I believe this is as simple as some plumbing, gaskets, and maybe a bigger heat exchangers. The heat exchanger needs to be able to circulate antifreeze to those parts, this is where the re-plumbing comes in, you also might need a larger capacity heat exchanger to cool the added parts to the cooling loop and then the gaskets.

That's a nice job. There is nothing like a clean engine room. Looks awesome Larry.

Capt. G, I just thought of one other big item that has to be replaced (which is part of the Mercruiser kit) is both engine ECM’s.

Very good to know. With the technology all boats should come standard with fwc. Engines.
Looks like I will go with the flush system
