Has anyone installed the Atwood 1675-6 fuel vent line surge protector? Is it successful in stopping fuel from exiting the vent during fill-ups?

Any other suggestions to remedy fuel vent spillage?

there are whistles that you install in the fuel tank vent line....as the fuel tank fills up the displaced air going through the vent line will sound the whistle.....when the tank is full and fuel just begins to enter the vent line the whistle will stop.....you know the tank is full when the whistle stops thus preventing over filling the tank and vent line.....I used one on a previous smaller boat and it worked very well.....I suppose it would work the same on a larger cruiser....

I've never used the surge protector, personally. But I have heard first hand that they work as advertised.

I have one of the whistles, like Cliff mentioned, on my Grady - works fantastic. Size of boat won't matter. The "built-in"way to tell if your tank is full, though, is to listen for a gurgling sound coming back through the fill hose. When you hear the gurgle, stop.

Tiara built my boat with some sort of device in the fill pipe that returns fuel to the tank when the tank is nearly full. Don't know the details but it does not spit fuel back at you when full nor send fuel down the side of the hull from the vent. Really enjoy this feature as my 370 Express was hard to fuel up without making a mess every time it needed gas.

Have the same issue on my 1977 240 Sda when I first fueled it up. Luckly it was in my yard and I was using 5 gal fuel cans. The fuel spilled out the vent which really surprised me never had that happen on my smaller bayliner. I will look and see if I can get at the vent line and upgrade the line to include one of those items you showed, thanks for the imfo.
