Fuel Tank Sending Unit

My fuel guauge won't.....gauge. I pulled the sending unit from the tank. Unlike some I have read mine (200 sundancer) is easily accessable. The shaft on the unit was bent...90 degrees like the tank had something in it that shifted and bent the unit. Anyone ever heard of this.

I would guess it was damaged when it was installed? Post a pic of your 200 Sundancer.
