I need to replace my fuel tank on a 1072 sea ray 183 stern drive. I pulled the carpeting up a little but it appears that teh tank was not made to be removed. Any suggestions?

Have you had any luck getting the tank out since you posted?
I have a '76 195 with the tank in the bow. It was made in there. I completely stripped the boat and still lacked about 1" getting it to slide out. Finally took out the sawzaw and "customized" the glass under the dash. The tank is now boiled and lined. Haven't reinstalled yet but the trim will still cover the bigger opening.
Not sure about a tank in the flor. Can you peel back enough carpet and trim to see whats holding it?

No luck yet. The tank is stuck in there very good. I have tried running a swa all around it but it still will not come out
