Last year, I had no reading on my fuel gauge. I pulled up the deck hatch over the tank and found the grounding wire to be non-tinned and very corroded. I ended up cutting back 6" of cable from either end of the 8AWG ground wire and restored signal. This year, I replaced the ground wire with new tinned copper 8awg wire. I also replaced the original teleflex gauge for a Faria Euro Black gauge to match my other new gauges. I'm getting erratic readings. The machine screw that holds the tank ground and sender ground to the grounding strap keeps backing out. Should I purchase a short bolt with locking nut? If so, am I looking for brass, stainless or something else?

Additionally, I have noticed whenever I remove that deck panel that there is a bunch of moisture on top of the tank, which is probably causing the delamination of the plywood panel. It looks to be two layers of 1/2 plywood stapled together and coated in gray bilgekote. This is a 1994 200OVOB and I'm going to have to replace that 24 year old panel if I keep on removing it. Hoping to delay that until I'm ready to pull the glued down carpet and lay down EVA flooring. Any suggestions on how to keep that area dry? There isn't any room once the deck panel pits into the lip as the second layer of plywood is cut smaller than the lip, with a cutout for the sender and sits directly on the tank.

Thank you in advance.
