I have a 99 searay with a 5.0 EFI . seems like the low pressure fuel pump is not getting a suction but you can hear the pump running. so i plan on replacing the pump. now should i replace the HP fuel pump as well or how would i know if i even have an hp fuel pump?

Only 1 pump. What's your fuel pressure? What's your problem?
was cruising down the lake and lost engine started to sputter and then finally shut off. then wouldnt start. sounded like it wanted to but wast getting fuel, checked the injectors. only sprayed a few droplets while trying to turn over. eventually nothing was spaying any more. so i pulled the fuel line off the fuel pump and turned the key. heard the pump prime up but didnt feel any vacuum from the suction side of the fuel pump. so i assumed thats the problem. also pulled the fuel filter off the tank to see if any crud would pure out. fuel was clean. so that is my issue.

Did you check your vent line and anti-syphon valve. Filter on the tank? Not a remote spin on? You sure you have gas in the tank and not a bad gauge?

its got plenty of gas . didnt check the ant syphon valve, ill give that a shot. pretty sure it wassnt clogged since gas was still flowing when i pulled the filter.

Unless it has a collapsed fuel line which is possible it does sound like a failed pump. The whole idea of the anti syphon as it shouldn't flow unless there is a draw on it.
