Greetings to all. Working on a 2006 320 Port Fuel Tank. Does anyone know which direction the sending unit float arm goes in? Does it point to the bow or the stern? PO had removed the float arm in an attempt to repair. Thanks

Doesn’t really matter, the main thing is to ensure that it will have full range of motion....

If possible, it may pay to install it with the swing arm at right angle to the length of the boat, so that the boats trim angle on/off plane doesn’t effect the reading.

When I replaced my senders on my 2004 300DA the holes only lined up one way. They appeared symmetrically spaced but they weren't. One hole was offset.

That bolt pattern thing is a nearly invisible PITA, but the sending unit’s position relative to its mounting holes can be adjusted in 90 degree increments.

Usually the nut that’s under the nut that accepts the positive lead (in the center) can be loosened allowing this adjustment.

I did both of mine last year and had enough trouble getting one of them to line up without the float scraping the side of the tank that I twisted the vertical aluminum channel a bit until it worked.

My tanks are easily accessible, but narrow enough that 90 degrees in either direction resulted in hangups on the tank walls.

It can take some fiddling and helps to mark the tank and sending unit once you get that bolt pattern figured out.

Thanks guys - We have it n with the float arm to the stern. I believe this is correct. Cannot get a dip stick in to check actual level as the access hole is under a seat. Gonna add some fuel to be sure it is moving and not stuck up against a baffle or wall. Hopefully we are good.
