I went about replacing the 1/4 inch fuel hose that runs from the carburetor to the fuel pump today. Btw this is the 87 230 weekender with omc 350. Anyway, i found the the hose and nipple ends on the carb and the fuel pump were clogged with crude. I took the hose off and threw it out then went to probing the nipple on the fuel pump. It was clogged bad, so i removed it and opened it up to clean it. I found that the nipple and its channel were packed full. Ive since cleaned it out and am waiting on my rebuild kit for the quadrajet. My question is, would this clogged line cause bogging and hesitation on acceleration? Thanks!

That my friend is a vent line in case the fuel pump diaphragm goes bad and that will push the leaking fuel into the carb

If that line is that clogged up it indicates that the pump is very old. I would replace the pump at the same time as rebuilding the carb. Tricky job but there are Youtube videos showing the way.

Does it run bad? Is the pump leaking fuel? If not put a new line on and be done with it.
