Hi, once again the mechanical fuel pump of my Mercruiser 7.4 lt failed. Is it possible to fit an electric pump instead? The issue is that the same body also drives the raw sea water impeller.
Any way around?
Thanks

I considered the switch when I had my 290DA with the same pump configuration. Are you aware of the oil reservoir in the pump housing? It must be kept full.

Correct, this morning I went for a ride and during the trip I heard a squeaky noise; stopped, and opened the engine hatches just to find out that the pump housing parted in two pieces but the diaphragm was still operating so I managed to get to my destination at idle..... I think the pump (replaced just 6 months ago) was installed improperly and had suffered extra tension or something.....
