My fuel gauges aren’t work correctly on my ‘05 - 40’ motor yacht. Probably time to replace the sending units. They cannot be changed out in the engine room. Not enough clearance from the top of the tank to the floor above.
When I had my carpet replaced I noticed about a 5” circular cut out ( in the floor) above the tank. I am assuming that is there to access the top of the tank. It’s pretty close to the top of the sending unit. I found the same size round cut out on the other side, too… under the carpet.
Has anybody replaced the sending unit/s on the ‘39 or 40’ motor yacht? Does that hole provide enough clearance to get the old unit out and the new in? It doesn’t appear that the sending unit is right below the cut out. Close but not directly over.
Any suggestions or advice would be welcomed!
