I know that this has been discussed before and I tried using the search to come up with some struff, but did not come up with much. I was wondering how difficult these are to put in, I have a 7.4L carb single and have about had it with the accuracy of the fuel guage. Is there one brand that is better than the other. I read the instructions to one of them and it said that it must be put in after the main fuel filter in a 3/8" flex line. They can't mean to put it after the fuel water sep filter as there is no flex line there as I recall. (Boat is still covered up and I am going from memory, which gets worse each year.) Do you install some sort of an in line filter on the flex line from the tank then put the sensor there? The Floscan looked nice wthe the built in tac, but cost a good bit more than some of the other brands. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I installed a flow meter that communicates with my Lowrance chartplotter so that I can see the fuel info right on the chartplotter display. It is very accurate and shows gph, remaining miles, remaining gallons, etc. The piece of mind is well worth it - my original fuel gauge is way off and occassionally it caused a very stressful trip home hoping I would not run out of fuel.

The install was simple. I bought some new fuel line and then I inserted an inline fuel filter and the flow scan device in the new line and replaced the old fuel line. The Lowrance flowscan device needed to be mounted verticle. I ran the wiring up to the Lowrance and I was done. I kept the old fuel line as a spare incase there is a clog or a malfunction and I need a quick fix.

Regards, Pete.
