I'm getting ready to install a Lowrance LMF 400 fuel flow meter and have to put a sensor on each fuel line. My boat is a 2000 w/ 5.7's and the fuel lines are fitted w/ plastic braid covering. Are they high pressure or just very well built? Can I cut and install the sensors on these lines with double clamps and be OK? Any help would be great.

I installed the same unit on my carbed boat this season. I'm not sure about your pressure deal but on my boat I installed it on the suction side of the fuel system in the facing down position. I called lowrance and talked to a tec and said dispite what the manual said he had installed it like this on his boat and it worked fine. It worked fine on my boat too. There was just too much stuff in the way and no way to secure the sender if I installed it in the up position.

Any fuel line between the tank and the engine has to be a suction line- no braiding necessary, probably there for chafe resistance?
