Fried Generator Impeller.

Can anyone tell me why a generator impeller would self destruct when started shortly after launching the boat from a travel lift? The genny ran well before the boat was hauled for hull inspection. The impeller had only about 15 hours on it.

Possibly an air lock if the sea cock was open when hauled and re launched.

yep - very common. About every 3rd time I launch, I have to open the strainer lids slightly to fill the strainers.

simple, most likely air locked as previously stated; ran dry and the rest is history.... Every time you turn it on you should ensure you have water flow out of the exhaust, if it's running dry you will actually smell the impeller burning up
