Fridge Keeps Tripping Breaker

Our fridge is acting up. On shore power it sets then pops after about 2 seconds. Amp meter on AC panel shows a huge spike. On DC panel it does the same thing. I tried using the generator and the draw it puts on that is audible…huge draw! Any ideas would be appreciated!

Possibly a seized compressor. See if you can easily/safely disconnect the compressor and try firing it up again. If it no longer spikes, then bad compressor.

I would see if the compressor has a capacitor with it. Could be as simple as that went bad. They provide a boost of current to help through the start up draw. Very common to go bad and cause issues like this


Or could be a bad compressor… hoping for the first
