Unwrapped the boat on Sunday! Now, reduced flow on fresh water lines...any ideas where the pump is and if there is a screen/filter between the tank and the pump that could be clogged? It is a 1997 DA 400...

Pump and filter are just aft of the port vacuflush pump (near the holding tank).

Have you made sure the aerators aren't clogged first? It's common for redpop to dislodge minerals and other junk in the lines that end up going all the way to the screens.

The cockpit faucet doesn't have a mesh screen, so if that's weak, then I'd look at the filter near the pump.

Ok, I'll check...thanks. First time de-winterizing; other than filling all the coolants and opening the seacocks, any tricks before pushing the start buttons?

Do you know the health of the impellers? Winters can be hard on the compressed vains, so if you're at all leary, you might want to replace them first to avoid having to chase impeller bits out of the hoses.

No...the boat is a 97 and no work has ever been done on the fresh water system. No filter replacement, no screen cleaning (wherever that is), and no faucet screen cleaning. So I will be starting at square 1 and probably opt for the simple to the hard. The marina mechanic said that the fresh water pump didn't have an impellor and that I should just change the whole pump. Hmmmm

Oh sorry - I meant the engine seawater impellers.

As for the freshwater system, my screen has stayed relatively clear of debris, but the aerators have clogged many times. Are you sure the tank has plenty of water and any air has bled out?

To clarify: I shouldn't have said filter in my first post. I was referring to the screen. SeaRay didn't install a filter in the 400DA.

Ok, thanks for the clarification...is the screen part of the pump or a standalone unit? Is there any trick to pulling it out and checking it?

Are you getting low pressure running from the tank or from a hose? If it is from a hose I'd suspect the pressure regulator where you connect the hose.

It is from all outlets. Sounds like a pump probably but will check the screen first
