I have an 07 240DA. Yesterday, my fresh water pump would not work at all. My friends told me that they do not hear the pump come on at all when I turned it on or tried to turn on the faucet. My water tank is full right now. Do I have to drain the water tank in order to service the pump? This would be my first time servicing the water pump. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

breaker or fuse, or clogged filter on pump
take voltmeter and check if you have power coming to pump
if there is power and filter is clean -lightly tap pump to check if pressure switch is "sticky".

i just did a repair on my own pump which had stopped working:
the water pump didnt work. with members advice and pump manufacturers help, i drained the water tank, disassembled the pressure switch assembly, cleaned and reseated the rubber pressure membrane, tested switch (found to be intermittent) then applied wd40 to all electrical contacts and reassembled. tested briefly dry, then filled water tank and guess what? it works perfectly. slight adjustment to sensitivity screw and all is well.

good luck with yours

i got lucky... when i banged it it burst into life (leave a tap open so it has the chance to do that). then i ran it dry.

prior to that i was advised to use a cork or similar to bung the pipe as there is very little pressure there, so you could do that instead.

hope you get lucky too...

Well, I hope I get lucky as you. Luck doesn't come my way too often. I will write up a report when I find the time to do it this week since I will be starting graduate school tomorrow.

Go figure...I did what Kevinnice mention but played with the pressure switch and it came to life.

Hope it keeps working. Did the same thing on mine and it lasted about another 6 months. After 6 months or so it stated messing up again. Worked on it again and sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't:huh: Finally gave up and replaced the pump. Keep the old on as a backup just in case.

Yeah, I am going to buy a new pressure switch and keep the old on as a spare. Now I learn something new.

There's a local store by my job that is selling a new fresh water pump, it's a shurflo aqua king standard 3.0gpm for only 79.95. I am thinking about getting that pump. Here is the link

http://www.shurflo.com/Pages/Marine/ProductDetails/FW_3901-0216.htm

The pressure switch with the housing assembly cost 47.99 at West Marine while a new pump with a 3 yr warranty is 79.95.

That is why I went with the new pump. Plus it was whole lot easier just to swap the whole thing out.(Grin)
