Fresh Water Pump suddenly stopped working on 2006 240SD

Were you able to resolve this problem? I am having the same issue on my 2007 340DA--no water and no pump noise when switched on. The pump has gotten almost no use.

Nope, not yet, went out yesterday, and at least identified the pump on the port side, on the battery side, as previous posters have advised...

And by the way, i have the screw-on type ! (crap !)....I actually have 5 year warranty plan i purchased as part of the boat sale, that may cover this, so I am going to check on that before starting to take things apart...

David

My extended warranty does not cover this fix, so I will be tinkering with it this weekend..

If I replace the entire pump, what kind of cost am I looking at, and what is a good source for this pump, same company or try one that last more than 2 1/2 years !

I just replaced the whole pump seems like it was around $100. I got mine off ebay. Can't remember the name of the company, but it was the same type of pump Shurflo???

That sounds pretty reasonable....

Simple question also:
Does the pump activate when it senses low pressure in the line, when the spigot is opened ?, and is this part of the pump assembly itself ?

David

Yep, I was told there is a pressure switch on the top of the pump and that is what they say goes bad. I keep my old pump just in case I ever decided to get the switch kit and try to replace it and keep it for a spare.

Yahoo...it works !!

Finally got the boat up on the rack today, and disconnected the pump, it had 12V DC getting to it, so power to it was fine, so pulled the pump out, and took off the filter (see early post), and saw a few 'squiggles' of what look like shavings from drilling plastic/fiberglass in it...so I originally discounted that as the cause (remember the pump stopped working all together, and never sounded like it was straining), since it was not a lot of debris at all, I then hooked the pump to a 12v DC power supply, and it worked ! (I had the filter off)...further looking showed a very fine clogging of the screen with what appears to be mineral deposits..very fine sized, and I had to really blast the screen with water to clear it, but it finally was clear...hooked it it back up,and it runs great now..

Thanks for everyone's input...

Hello All I have a 2007 240 sundancer that we have never used the shower nor the fresh water system, we were always on the lake and or the campsite. But now I was hoping to use it recently and to no avail nothing fuses fine, pump sits atop water heater??? what could this be

Re: Yahoo...it works !!

Great news! I just cleaned my filter screen for the first time and it was full of gunk.

Good deal, David! :smt038 Gotta 'luv those free fixes! Now, in the future, make cleaning the filter part of your regular maintenance. I usually do it once a year. "CLR" (or similar) can help with those mineral deposits, if need be.

Just for the record...it suddenly stopped working again last weekend...go figure..I'll pull it out again and see what is up..I had adjusted the pressue switch, may have to tweak it some more ?

David

It is the pressure switch. I had my pump fail on me. Give it a good hit or play with the pressure switch.

I bought a new pump (shurflo 3901-0206) it was on sale for 80 dollars. from www.rivermarinesupply.com. It is a much better pump so I kept the old on as a spare.

Yep, I good whack on the sensor started it right back up today...It would have been nice for the Sea Ray engineers to make the adjustment actuall face inward, versus right up against the wall...can't adjust it without unmounting the entire pump

2006 240 Sundancer

Same thing happened to my pump, just stopped working. Took it apart, put it back together, worked for a few days then stopped. Took it apart again, worked for a few days then stopped again.

I'm tired of fussing with it. I am going to replace the pump with a different brand.

John

What brand/pump are you going to replace it with?
