So I will be replacing my newly acquired hot water heater. Stainless enclosure and all. I guess I should replace the water pump while I am at it. The standard equipment Shurflo 2095-223-254 2.8 gpm is what I will replace also. My understanding is the replacement for this would be the Shurflo 4138-111-E65 and 3.0 gpm. Should I be opting for a higher gpm or would it just overkill?

The 3gpm is probably just fine for your boat. I had to replace my Jabsco Par Max 3.5gpm fresh water pump last season and I put the same thing back in. Works like a charm.

Is your water pump not working correctly?

Seems fine. It's 10 years old. It would suck to have a problem with it after replacing the water heater and putting the old one back in. For $100 I think it may be worth it.

Yeah. If it's 10yo it's probably good to replace. Mine only lasted four years.

I just replaced our water heater element for $27.00 works great. Keep in mind there should be a small pre-filer ahead of the pump. It is easy remove, open and clean. Your water pressure e may surprise you after cleaning that little pre filter.
