Hello all..
So turned on my water pump and opened a faucet and nothing
how should I go about troubleshooting this ?

Also so taking an cruise for the ole ladies birthday tonight and will have several people on board
if I can't get the water floating can people still use the head ?
Im talking using #1. Not number 2
( no number to rule always in effect )

thanks

Sure can. Just pour water into the head from a bucket or something as if you were filling it up pulling up on the foot valve.

Oh wait. Do you mean without using any water at all? I guess so. Just won't be diluted in anyway as it passes through all the parts to the holding tank.

Take a few jugs of water down to the boat with you and use that to flush until you get the water pump situation repaired.

I'm curious about the "No #2 rule". You have a head on board, why not use it and let guests use it. It's the courteous thing to do.

So I guess I'll ask the obvious question, Is there water in the fresh water tank?

There is water in the tank (assuming you put water in it) It is not going anywhere without the pressure of the failed pump. Just sits there.

If he has vacuum flush the head can't be used. Pouring water in doesn't gravity drain to the tank.....at least not in mine,

My VacuFlush will flush without the fresh water pump being on. Why wouldn't it? The vacuum system is in no way connected to the fresh water system.

as long as the vacuum pump is creating vacuum, you can sure use the heads. Pour some water and flush, vacuflush heads don't really need that much water. I also don't understand the "no #2" rule... isn't it why we have boats with these creature comforts? Not sure what the alternatives are if you're cruising or anchored out and nature calls?

Yes you will be able to use it. Get a small bucket even a solo cup and each use just grab a pint out of your lake, do your business in the head, flush it and pour some of the water down with it. You really don't even need the water, but it's nice to rinse the bowl. The vacuflush doesn't know where the water came from and can run without water, especially #1.

I stand corrected....my mind was not thinking about the vacuum side being independent of the fresh water side. Good to know. Thanks for fixing my head! haha

Rules were made to be broken. As guys we enter the head and make a conscious decision to sit or stand. In our minds it's easy to make a distinction between going #1 and #2. Females are different. They sit no matter what. And guys, having been married for 30 years and with two grown daughters I can tell you that girls sometimes poop while they sit there. It's not necessarily what they intend to do, they sit, they push and out it all comes, from all exits. It's really hard to enforce this rule, cause there's not much recourse once the rule is broken. Are you going to inspect before your guests flush and then fish out the objectionable matter?

On my boat, the head is the head and it gets used no differently than our bathroom at home.
And, by the way, so this isn't a total thread hijack - bring a jug of water and use it if you need to supplement the pee pee water for flushing.

Yes, you need some water so the urine doesn't sit in the hose and make it nasty.

thanks guys, actually got it fixed before the cruise, the seacock was in a closed position ( mechanic who was fixing started i guess never reopened it)

Well, there you have it. Another mystery solved. Always knew they were a little different but this does explain a few things. ummm, just curious, did you pick up this tidbit of information from a deliberate conversation or just casual observation? ...nevermind, I don't want to know that badly come to think about it. I do know my wife of nearly 30 years has obviously been holding out on me (or atleast not "holding in" apparently).
