fresh water pump issue

If I was in your situation, Mark, I would certainly consider the RV pump.

That is kind of what I am thinking maybe the difference between the two. The RV model is about 1/2 the price of the marine model.

My is running, but will not shut off. The filter is clean. I took the clear "bulb" off when I was cleaning the filter and turned the pump on. There was hardly and suction on the "water-in" side of the pump. I would think there should be stronger suction to suck the water from the water tank.

One of 2 things is wrong if the pump does not shut off (assuming you are getting water out of a faucet):

1. You have a leak somewhere and the pump cannot pressurize the water line, or

2. The pressure switch in the pump is bad.

I am replacing my pump and I found that SR installed a 30psi pump (ignition protected and pump located in cabin). I am installing a 60psi smart pump. I have completely redone my water system with Pex tubing so it will hold the added pressure.

thanks, In the past I have had issues with the fresh water holding tank fitting comining loose and leaking water all over the place. When this happened the fiiting that screws into the tank has actually popped out and flooded the cabin. I know that it is not leaking weater soi I assumed that it would not be leaking air, but I had not thought about a crack. I have tried bleding the system several ytimes without success and have changed the diaphram on the pump too. None of this helped so I am just about at the point of replacing the pump itself. I will check the fitting on the holding tank again to see if there is an air leak there.

If not I am going to change the pump because it could be the pressurte sensor switch on the pump as I am pumping water but the pump never pressurizes enoughg to shut off.

ernie, correct me if im wrong but you havent told us whether you tested the pump yet?
