my pump for my fresh water isn't pumping any water . it runs but no water. i've disconnected what lines i could reach from the pump and at the tank and water ran out. i did winterize everything before winter. 2009 240 sundeck w/305 engine. the screen was clean also. any thoughts?

These pumps have a diaphram in the pump that can tear or crack. If that happens they won't pump any water. Depending on your type of pump I believe that you can access the diaphram by diassembling the pump. At least you will be able to tell if it is intact, and continue your trouble shooting. If you have water in the tank, clean strainer, and the pump runs continuosly and doesn't build pressure and turn off, My guess is pump.

Before you do that make sure that none of the fittings on the inlet side are allowing air to enter. If that is the case your pump can't create a vacuum and suck the water up from the tank. Turn on the pump and if you can get to the fittings listen for air being sucked in or if you can't get close enough wrap your hand around the fitting and hold it there if the pump starts to draw water there is your issue. Or disconnect the inlet pipe and put it in a bucket of of water and see if the pump draws from there.

If all there is good then yes might be the pump.

As Alegria just mentioned, the slightest bit of air will cause your pump to not pump water. After winterizing mine correctly one year, I couldn't get it to pump the next season. I had removed the line coming from the water tank so that I could place the line into a gallon of antifreeze to suck directly from the jug. When I re-assembled, I didn't press the fittings together good enough, allowing air to get into the line. Once I squeezed the fitting tighter, all was good.
