Anyone ever pop a freeze plug on their A/C water pump housing? I didn't know they existed until I splashed yesterday. I found water coming in from around the water pump housing when I launched the boat yesterday. Upon further inspection and dissassembly of the pump housing I found one of them had popped out during the winter months. Luckily I found it in the bilge, O ring and all, and reinstalled it in the housing. I will check the pump operation this weekend when I return to the boat. I'm thinking I didn't get all the water out of the pump when I winterized last fall, it froze and popped the plug. No other damage as far as I can see.

I've seen a plug in the bottom of my pump, and assumed it to be a threaded drain. Is this a smooth press in? How did you winterize? With compressed air?

Yes, it is just a smooth press in plug (had to tap it in with a wrench)with an O ring on it. Yes I winterize by blowing out the water system although this has never happened to me before. The plug itself is about 1/4" in diameter and there are 2 of them on the housing.
