Did anyone installing the Fox Gateway and displaying with Garmin have difficulty getting the RPM's to display in better resolution than every 25 RPM's?

Thanks

Mine shows 50!

You've probably noticed in the Fox app that the blame lies with Garmin - Fox puts the data out there.

Hey now - what's with that antique VHF?!?! Didn't that guy on CSR who nags everyone about DSC target you yet? I, (I mean he) knows how to find you...

I can only say that I installed it on my last boat with a Simrad gauge and it read exact to the whole number.

Fox had a bug for engine hours. I think once over a thousand hours it displayed different every day. I worked with him to resolve it but I never got a fix. Everything else worked as advertised.

My Garmins won't display 4-digit engine hours - they drop the 1, but the rest are accurate. The app shows it correctly.

So Garman did confirm the engine speed is in 50 RPM increments. Had I known that, I would have looked at another make. I thought my engines were running dead nuts on - NOT. Who knows how far off they are as they are rounded to 50 RPM. I'm also having difficulty getting engine data to show so I can select a certain feature (i.e. engine hours, load, etc.) I spent the extra money for the 743xsv for all the gauge layout options, but can only get speed, coolant temp and fuel flow. Got ripped off by Garman. I called and the person I spoke to was worthless.

RollerCostr, your words are hurtful (LOL). Leave my antique VHF alone. Heck, does anyone use them?

When you Bluetooth pair the gateway with the FoxGateway app on your phone does it provide any additional incremental function?

Yes - in my case on my 99 270. It had all sensors that were available to be seen. I imagine they were similar to having a Rinda connected. Iirc the app was a additional charge.

I learned about this Garmin "quirk" the hard way too. I can't make sense of it, but Garmin will at all times show you some parameters that you can configure. However, other parameters will only appear as options on the Garmin while that data is present on the network. Try again while your engines are running and additional options will appear. This is my old 8212, but my 742 has the same options. I can't imagine that your 743 doesn't.

It's interesting that you were able to configure coolant temp, because that was one of the parameters that messed me up... (do you have newer than MEFI-1's?)

I'm just getting started! I've been known to go directly to Admirals to get the job done when the husbands give me a hard time. (and with a high success rate!) lol

Seriously, the VHF is one of the most important safety devices on your boat. (well, on my boat. Your VHF is a POS) :D

Don't go far? Don't go far often? Doesn't matter. The incident that convinced me to get a DSC VHF happened right there in Poor Man's. It involved 3 people in the water, help from the Cty Sheriff and the diversion of a CG Helicopter. Yep - 500' from your dock. Don't make me call your wife.

So, what's my budget?

Not to high jack your conversation..but the audio of that incident will haunt you. Gave me chills. It’s what made me update my VHF.

..carry on
