I have a 94 290 DA and when we bought it we did get a survey done. We were told we have an excellent boat.

There was a spare set of props stored under the bed in the forward berth. I needed them and pulled them out. I noticed at thy time a little bit of water in the space. I at the time suspected props were put there wet and I cleaned up the water.

Fast forward a few months and today I came to check on her as we had a bit of a storm last night and today. I decided to check that storage spot. When I looked I found about 4 inces of water in there. Now I am am worried I touched my finger to my tongue to see if I could taste salt and didn't detect salt. But licking my lips now thy seem salty, but I am on the water.

Took quick look outside and watched inside. It look like the bow tow point through bolt is leaking. We are getting pretty heavy rain, so assume it is the rain runoff coming in.

I can silicone inside to stop water from coming in, but am concerned now about hull damage.

If you're positive it's coming in through the bow eye, good, you've found the leak. If not, tape it up real good on the outside and see if that stops it.

There's no wood in the hull there. I believe there's only a small piece used as a backer plate, along with aluminum. This is not a high-priority fix. You'll know more once you remove it. More than likely, the worst case will be grinding out the wood and replacing and re-glassing. In the meantime, if the tape stops it, then go back and remove it and apply a sealant such as BoatLife LifeSeal on the outside. This sealant will cure in the presence of water.

Although I said this is not a high-priority fix, I would shy away from using the bow eye - especially for lifting. Chances are it's fine, but there is a small chance that the shanks are weakened.

Thanks Lazy Daze, I am pretty confident that's the source of the water. I will get that fixed up no problem.

Good - finding the source is often times the hardest part of the job. Don't feel like you have to rush to get this done - tape or sealant can be a temporary fix. Also, if you're comfortable doing the repair, it could be done in the water. A shop will probably want it pulled out, though.

Anchors for the bow rail are another common source of water intrusion in that area.

Thanks Grandmaster, I am pretty sure it's the bow eye, I seen the water come from there. I will take a closer look for other possible spots of concern
