This is a 1941 wood navy patrol boat, 80' long and just gorgous.

It's probably a Yacht that was Donated or was Appropriated at the beginning of the War!! (Wood Boats= a Lot of Work) but still great lines!!
 
very cool. My grandfathers boat was 'donated to the cause' in WW2. he had a late 30's 46' Dawn cruiser built by Dawn boat works in Bayone or NY... not sure exactly where they were. . USCG took it over for a coastal patrol boat and used it off of the coast of NY and NJ for the duration of the war. when my grandfather got it back. he had to remove the copper plating the uscg had installed below the water line then remove the gun mounts and basically remodel the boat. he did get it back though and kept until just before his death in 2004. He also replaced the 2 flathead v8's with army surplus gasoline engines which resulted in a cruise speed of about 12 knots. I do have a few pictures of it in dry dock in the mid 50's in Toms River nj during one of its' routine service haul outs. hopefully one posted . thanks for the pictures.
