Found the The Lost Ark....aka the "Ebb Tide"

Ok, Well the saga continues. Coop has decided to sell her. He has an opportunity to purchase a home, and who can blame him.
I was really hoping to meet him down in Portland for a cruise and whatever happens hope we can stay in touch with the boat

Well, I was warned of this in April.
Today he has placed the ad. It's all restored and looking good.

I just wish I had an extra $5k sitting around..I'd get her back.

My brother's considering it.....we'll see.
Well my brother was ready to buy it from him and he replied that he sold it for $1500. There was some damage from a roof collapse either over the winter '08/09 that was attended to. He must have been embarrased about not taking care of it, because he never contacted us.

We have contacted the new owners who intend to continue the restoration so that's good. We're visiting them soon.

Good luck with the new owners. Hope they continue to care for her. Shame he didn't reach out to you first though...he should have.

May Ebb Tide continue to sail on...

Ahh. . .obsession, my old friend I know so well!

Time to find the new owner and break out the wallet. Keep making offer every six months.

Hey ya'll UPDATE. We have just learned that she is back up for sale and although we don't have all the funds to get her back we have a plan with some help. We've set up a funding site.

thats a shame, what a great story its too bad you cant bring her back into your family.

This thread tells a great story. What is the current asking price?
We can get her for $2500. Shipping will be $2000 or less, a years moorage will be around $6000 and the minor repairs we will need to get done are about $2000.
My brother and I are going to be in for around $1000 each.

See the link, we're trying.

The price of the boat sounds like the venture will be do-able. $2k for shipping? $6k for moorage? Repairs now is one thing but annual upkeep & cost going forward sounds like they may be the hold up. Is your plan to fix the boat & keep it in the water somewhere? Im going to re read where it is now vs where you are but a trailer now might avoid the $6k of annual moorage. Just thinking out loud.

The shipping is a very HIGH estimate. The plan is once we do get her back in Puget Sound We have some discussions with a wooden boat-building school + cousins to contribute to upkeep and costs. Moorage will be between 450-500/mo for the first year. During that first year we plan to get some repairs and maintenance done then we should be able to afford moorage moving forward.

Todd,

For $2500, the boat is under your family's control. You have a storage building and some property, can you winterize and block the boat up there while you continue to raise the restoration funds. Shipping won't be free, but storing the boat on land stops the bleeding until you guys are ready to move forward. You will also be surprised how easy it is to spend a few hours periodically and how those hours add up into progress. I wouldn't launch the boat until I needed her wet to continue the repairs/resotration....like cooling system, running maintenance, etc.

Or, how about buying a cheap bunk type trailer to haul, ship and store the boat on?............a quad axle steel trailer just sold near here for $500, just to get it out of the way.

The storage is the issue right now. I have the garage Nehalennia is in currently This one won't fit in there. We don't have a piece of property to store it on on the hard but still may be a much more economical idea to look for one.

I've got lots of room to store it at my place if you want but its a little far from you.

Update, we've reviewed our potential costs and were able to lower our request relatively substantially.
