found a bold ?! Help !

okay guys, just took my 2001 185 out for a ride this weekend and when I get home to clean her, i noticed something sticking out of the drain plug ..... a 5-6 inch gold colored bolt...

HELP !!! does anyone know where this bolt came from ? :huh:

In the automotive world the first place I would look if I found a bolt that length would be the accesories.Such as the alternator and power steering pump mounting bolts.

I like the theory that it is a new bolt that got lost. Look at the threads, and note there are no wear marks from previous installation. Also look under the head - I can't see any pressure marks from the clamping forces bolts are designed to generate.

Definately look around - the bolt might have been installed and never torqued - explaining its new appearance.

When the boat is on the assembly line, it's a lot easier to grab another bolt than to try and fish out the one you dropped.

You'd be amazed at some of the things that are left in a boat - including tools!

Yep ! it was a bolt off of the Exhaust Manifold.
