I have created a Google Map of the restaurants you can boat to in the South West Florida area. It mainly has the Ft Myers and Sarasota areas right now. This is a work in progress and will be updated regularly. http://www.jimandsusan.com/restaurant-map.html , If you click on "View Restaurants in a larger map" below my map you will see web pages to all of the restaurants. If you know some I have missed please post them here and I will add them.

Excellent job, you've got everyone that we have ever been too, plus a bunch. Looks like our work is cut out or us.
Thanks,

Nice job! You have our favorites on there, Cabbage Key, Barnacle Phil's, and Tween-Waters. We vacation on Captiva every November and rent a boat while we are there. We may use this to "expand our horizons" a little. Thanks.

You should add the Harbourside Bar and Grill at South Seas.

Thanks, good job! You have several of our favourites on there. The best boating book I ever bought was, "The Hungry Boaters Restaurant Guide". Written by a couple I think that lived aboard and travelled Florida extensively. Alas, they stopped printing it because restaurants closed as soon as the book was printed :smt089. I still find it useful though, because it has many that are still open and is complete with charts, and local info etc. Now there's another idea for you..............

Thanks for the post!
We vacation during Christmas Time every year at a friends house in Cape Coral, he has a nice little Sea Ray that he lets me use so we have explored many of those restaurants. We like Rum Runners & Marker 92.

I won't hijack this post, but I will start a new thread about the Ft Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel area. Retirement or semi-retirement is a few years off, but I am very intrigued about the idea of a canal home in that area. My wife visited the area this spring and reported that there was no real public waterfront restaurant area. Even with your map, it looks like there are a few here and there, but not really a "strip" . I guess we just need to rent a place and do some exploring some time.

if you are interested in "renting" something to explore the area consider this....my wife and I had chartered a boat from Southwest Florida Yachts in Cape Coral a week at a time over 5 years in a row. It was a great experience each and every time. We lived on board and travelled from marina to marina. It is a great way to explore the area. We also used the boat to visit several of the restaurants on the chart. SWFY has power boats in the 40 foot range (and sail boats too). The trawlers that they have available are well maintained and are great "moving hotels". We have taken them to Tween-Waters, South Seas Island Resort, Boca Grande, Useppa Island and Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda. Cabbage Key is also one of our favorite lunch stops. We have not done a charter in the past couple of years since we now have our own "big boat", but we do miss it.

Great shots! I have missed your postings - keep them coming. Like the Key West, too. When did you buy the Key West?

Nice map thank you. My wife and I just bought a canal home in Punta Gorda and we can't wait to get out on the water down there (poor me I'm sitting on the aft deck of my boat in Jersey drinking a martini as I type this). You need to venture up Charlotte Harbor and add Burnt Store Marina and about four bars in the Fishermans Village area. Thanks again, the research must be grueling. Mark

Nice job. I'm familiar with the AMI/LBK/Bradenton and Sarasota ones you listed and I think you hit them all.

Thanks,

Mike

What a timely thread! We are heading out on a 10 day trip next month from Crystal River down to Cabbage Key and back and I was just researching this very subject.
