Curious why these types are allowed to join and then spam and when reported the threads are not deleted and the user put on post versification at the minimum.

This site should really consider not being public anymore. And also have challenge questions to join.

I know, not my site and I am no longer a sponsored member. Not even a tech cont. Still food for thought.

There is no doubt your points are all correct.

There should be (and there are on other boards I frequent) a handful of trusted users blessed with 'moderator status' that allows the deletion of such spam posts.

Leave the account deletion to the PTB if they want it, but the shit being allowed to stand and create threads of their own only encourages the scumbags and makes it all harder to delete.

The next thing that will happen is that this asshole will tell his scumbag buddies he found an inattentive board operator and they will start showing up like flies to a shit fest.

Much easier to deal with Pro-actively than after the fact.

The public sections should be available to anyone on the Internet to read an learn. Close down registrations subject to approval and that should gate the spammers.

So the whole site is public. But ok, everyone's got an opinion.

Registration question and answer should be mandated and subject to approval by a human based on answers. Still doesn't filter out spammers unless there is a 5 post approval first.

I am an admin on a popular FB group. I bump people all of the time for spam and BS post's. That is what I was told to do and it makes for a better board. There is also a simple two question entry test. You would be surprised at how many don't even answer the questions.

I don't think fully public boards aren't going to be around much longer. There is too much cyber BS going on.

Open board is fine guests can read all they want.
But registrations need to be tightened up, captchas, valid email with a reply to confirm. Common practice nowadays.

Can not go by post count. The gated registration needs to be vetted properly before someone can even login.

The spammers will bypass all of that. Its not just automated bots but real people we are getting spammed by. They will work the captchas and rhe email validations to get in.

A little hard to do with only a few questions. Statements like "Vetted Properly" sound good in a post, but how is that accomplished when possibly hundreds of people can be applying a day.

I don’t believe the forum is watched or supervised much at all. When it recently went thru the platform upgrade, I was shocked. Not that it had issues but that someone was paying attention enough to it to agree to and manage an update. Still waiting for my burgee after multiple years being a sponsor member.

I totally agree!

. . Still waiting for my burgee after multiple years being a sponsor member.
In this regard, you need not feel like the Lone Ranger.
Knowing before the fact how much I would use this forum after I found it, I stepped up right out of the gate. Was pretty much before all the problems started, and THEN the upgrade. . . I was questioning my thought process for a while. I am very glad and relieved both, that things have got more back to normal, although the undressed spamming BS had me scratching my head again.
