My husband's first career was helping to develop arrester gear and catapults for the Royal Navy. He was often at sea doing trials on HMS Ark Royal. Found this video which brought back many memories of these excellent pilots. Her deck runway was under 700' long! Daunting thing landing on her as she pitched and tossed. Alas, she has been "razor blades" for a good few years now-

Yep. I sure did - love the F-4 that is! The Brit's F-4s had RR engines and were faster than ours. Stay in FL a little longer Frank it's still nasty everywhere up here.

Still NOTHING anywhere on earth like a US CVN Nimitz Class. I'll never forget being at sea off Gibraltar and watching one of our carriers lift anchor and SQUAT in the water as she got underway. Truly impressive.

Have to agree Ark Royal looks like a bit dropped off the Nimitz, which is one of, if not, the biggest aircraft carriers in the world. I don't care how much bigger the deck is for landing I still would not want to fly in a plane landing on it! Scares the whatnot outa me
