No good deed goes unpunished. I gave a guy my old round flush ears which worked perfect for 25 years. I splurged for $7.99 and got the rectangular ones. Seeing the holes in my outdrive are vertical I rotated the rectangular flush ear vertical. Started water it was pouring out everywhere so started engine. Engine begins to overheat. DO NOT ROTATE THE FLUSH EARS VERTICAL. If you do you must hit the holes perfectly or the ears water inlet dead heads directly into the outdrive and the water blows by the holes instead of into them. If you mount the ears where the rectangle is long ways / parallel to the road they work perfect. I figured that out after i dropped the lower outdrive and changed the perfectly good water pump. lol.
